Poultry Unit

In 2023, a Poultry Rearing Demonstration Unit (Pratap Dhan breed) was established at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jhalawar to create awareness among farmers about improved backyard poultry practices. The Pratap Dhan breed, developed for rural environments, is known for its high adaptability, better egg production, and disease resistance.

This unit serves as a practical training platform to demonstrate scientific methods of poultry rearing, including proper housing, balanced nutrition, vaccination, and health management. It aims to encourage farmers to adopt poultry farming as a low-investment, high-return enterprise.

By showcasing the benefits of the Pratap Dhan breed, the KVK promotes income generation, nutritional security, and sustainable livelihoods, especially for small and marginal farmers in the region.
